How do I submit a proposal to be featured in L+W?

The Littman and White Galleries take a proactive approach to curation, many artists are sought out by the curatorial committee because they match our aesthetic priorities. Artists and curators who feel they line up with our aesthetic priorities are welcome to submit. Submissions are reviewed on a biweekly basis. Exhibitions are planned approximately one year in advance.

Our Curatorial Priorities and Process:

L+W’s curatorial priorities aim to serve as a catalyst for diversity, creative expression of art and artists, and the active engagement of a student-based audience with exhibitions. We are currently focused on contemporary art practices that aim to bridge art and culture. Common themes L+W curates relate to race, ethnicity, visual culture, and reconnecting communities of color. L+W’s programming is student and community-focused and reflects the unique experiences of our community, local and global alike. The goal of our exhibitions is to present accessible viewing experiences while simultaneously challenging our audience both conceptually and visually. By focusing on emerging and mid-career artists, we aim to present contemporary art narratives outside of a mainstream normative script that can be accessible to anyone.

To submit, please send the following to curatorlw@pdx.edu:

  • Curatorial or artist statement

  • CV and/or resumé

  • Ten (10) images of past work

  • Any additional relevant information regarding the proposal (e.g., community involvement or special events)

Accepted proposals will be notified within 30 days. At the moment, we are unable to take submissions or proposals in person. Any and all questions can be answered over email: littmanandwhite@pdx.edu
